Social Determinants of Health

The social determinants of health are mostly responsible for health inequities. Social determinants of health are the conditions in which people are born, grow, live, work and age. These circumstances are shaped by the distribution of money, power, and resources at a global, national, and local levels. PEACH is here create a pipeline for contractors into the environmental industry.
In his book Philadelphia Negro noted sociologist W.E.B. Dubois in 1899 talked about issues of equity: “We must endeavor to eliminate, so far as possible, the problem elements which make a difference in health among people.” Dubois was ahead of his time in making this observation.

The disparities between black and white people was evident and PEACH wants to act on that disparity.
Health Equity – health equity is achieved when every person has the opportunity to “attain his or her full health potential” and that no one is “disadvantaged from achieving this potential because of social position or other socially determined circumstances.”
Health equity also involves racial equity where black children have a greater exposure to lead.
