Welcome to PEACH

At PEACHDurham, we believe healthy homes make healthy communities. We are a community-rooted, university-partnered nonprofit organization dedicated to protecting children and families from the hazards of lead exposure and other environmental risks. What began as a grassroots collaboration between North Carolina Central University (NCCU) and the Northeast Central Durham (NECD) community has grown into a trusted hub for environmental health education, lead safety certification, community support activities, and youth empowerment.

What We Do

From lead safety certification and housing inspections to environmental education and youth outreach, PEACHDurham helps families, contractors, and communities create healthier, safer living environments. Our work is driven by a mission to reduce environmental health disparities and to equip communities with the knowledge and tools to provide children with safe homes and environments.

Why It Matters

Unfortunately, lead poisoning remains a serious threat— especially in older homes— and it disproportionately affects underserved communities. Through education, action, and advocacy, PEACH empowers residents to tackle these issues head-on. Join us as we continue to build healthier environments— one child, one family, one structure, and one neighborhood at a time.
